Description

Launched in 2015, Mother's Load Au Pairs initially focused on the placement of mature au pairs that have wisdom, knowledge and patience working with children; and for families who want to be supported by an experienced and loving au pair in their daily life. Over time we have come to appreciate that age is just a number but level of maturity and life experiences are what make candidates of all ages suitable au pairs.

While we have had great success with our mainstream au pair placements over the first year of operation, we have established a huge need for au pairs, tutors and most recently facilitators for remedial families.

To date we have placed au pairs, tutors and facilitators with children who either have remedial or special needs ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) to Hydrocephalus. The feedback we have received from these families has been so rewarding and has prompted us to investigate the need for tutors and au pairs for remedial and inclusive education children further. We take guidance too from teachers and care-givers in these areas who have been very supportive of our initiative and who continue to provide us with great input by being our sound boards.

Our vision is to become a specialist au pair, facilitator and tutor company that partners with the relevant institutions and parents to provide candidates who understand and celebrate the uniqueness of the children and who can play a meaningful role in both their academic and social well being in conjunction with their school educators and therapists.

As a team of moms, each with our own personal remedial and special needs challenges with our children, assisting families in similar situations with au pair, tutor or facilitator support has become our mission! We do; however; still feel it is very important that to further validate our services offered, we need to educate ourselves in the various remedial and spectrum areas and we aim to do so through the relevant associations, together with parents and candidates.

All our au pairs and facilitators attend a personal interview with us, their CV's verified through references as well as criminal credit and licenses checks conducted. Families too are interviewed to fully understand and get an overview of their particular needs. Only through face-to-face interaction can we appreciate the "soft" areas and ask the relevant questions that go toward ensuring that only the most suited and compatible candidate/s are referred for consideration.

The most important thing for us is knowing, on confirmation of placement, that we have done everything in our power to ensure that candidates are the best match to the family to facilitate a successful placement and outcome. The compatibility of this match insures a happy working relationship between family and candidate thereby having the most positive impact on the children.
