Oakley House School is an independent remedial school in Plumstead, Western Cape catering for those children who struggle to achieve their potential in a mainstream classroom.
OAKLEY HOUSE SCHOOL specialises in teaching children who have dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, speech and language delays, motor difficulties, sensory difficulties, and Asperger’s Syndrome. Our aim is to provide a complete education whilst enabling learners to develop self-confidence, independence, a sense of responsibility and academic competence across the curriculum.
Our priority is to restore confidence and to develop a positive attitude to learning. We achieve this by providing a happy atmosphere with support and understanding for each child’s individual needs. Some of our children do not have any challenges other than needing a small, supportive environment in which to learn.
Since opening its doors in January 2007 with just ten children, in a beautiful cottage with a large oak tree in the garden, our mission has guided our work with young children and their families: to provide a happy and nurturing environment which supports all children in achieving their full potential and to create opportunities for all in the Oakley House community to grow. To this end, we have created a learning environment that is warm, friendly, and conducive to individual growth.
Our wonderful staff of dedicated, highly qualified and experienced specialists tirelessly help the children in their care acquire the skills to achieve success in their learning. It is thanks to these remarkable teachers and therapists that our children are able to develop a positive sense of accomplishment, maximise their strengths and develop a healthy self-esteem.
We are proud of our school and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to provide extraordinary special education services to our children and their families. We would love to show you in person.
